Breve programma:
This course is intended as an introduction to the representation theory of complex semi-simple Lie algebras from the point of view of highest weight modules. Its scope will be ultimately determined by the audience's background. Assuming certain familiarity with the structure theory of complex semi-simple Lie algebras, elementary representation theory of finite groups and basic abstract algebra, the central ideas would be the Weyl group and the Harish-Chandra isomorphism, culminating in a proof of the Weyl character formula in the spirit of Bernstein-Gelfand-Gelfand.
