Women in Mathematics Day

On the occasion of the International Women in Mathematics Day, the Department of Mathematics G. Peano at the University of Turin and the Department of Mathematical Sciences G. Lagrange at the Polytechnic University of Turin are organizing an event to raise awareness about the gender gap in STEM disciplines.

Date and Time: Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 2:30 PM
Location: Rectorate of the University of Turin (Via Po 17, Turin).

Program

During a poster session, several PhD students from the University and the Polytechnic University of Turin will present their research activities in pure and applied mathematics and related fields, such as data science and computer science. 

The event will feature talks focusing on the gender gap in academia, with a special emphasis on STEM fields, by the following speakers:

  • Irene Buselli | Data Scientist, Zenabyte and PhD student in Cybersecurity and Reliable AI, Università di Genova
  • Alessandra Colombelli | Politecnico di Torino and member of the GEDI – Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Observatory and President Equality Committee
  • Chiara De Fabritiis | Università Politecnica delle Marche and Equal Opportunities Committee of the Italian Mathematical Union – UMI

The event will conclude with a roundtable discussion featuring all the speakers.
