Course objectives

The aim of this course will be presenting the main known different approaching to toric varieties. Due to the huge amount of bibliographic references on this topic, the main attention will not be so much turned on giving proofs of many well known results, often characterized by a strong combinatorial afflatus and not so much intresting from the algebro-geometric point of view. Rather to drawing a way to quick correlating the different approaches, and favoring the possibility of explicitly working on significant examples.
